Templeton Presbyterian Church

Our WORSHIP is inclusive, which means we embrace a blend of worship preferences, drawing upon the best of what is new and old, innovative and traditional, current and historical, free and structured.  We enjoy praise through music and song from our worship band, piano, and choirs (vocal and handbell); preaching that is grounded in the authority of God's Word; and prayer before, during, and after the service.  Children and adults together share in the worship during the opening elements, after which our young ones are dismissed through prayer to their TPC Kids time.

We are here for you

Our COMMUNITY is "inter-generational", which means we span in ages under 1 to over 90, all who engage together in worship, study, and mission.  We have a robust children's and youth ministry, adult discipleship groups, and senior fellowship activities, all seeking to embody what it means to live in genuine love and hospitality for one another, regardless of where we may be in our journey toward wholeness.

Our MISSION is "small town/big world", which means we are committed to involvement in local missions such as feeding the hungry and housing the homeless (e.g., ECHO), reaching out to students (e.g., Youth for chirst, Front Porch Cal Poly), as well as global missions such as safe water in third world countries, orphanages and schools in Uganda, China, and Thailand (e.g., ZOZU), justice for abused women in India (CSJ), and supporting churches in areas of persecution in the Middle East (Turkey, Iran).

Our THEOLOGY is "Christ-centered", and you can see what that means in "WHAT WE BELIEVE".

Introduce people to Jesus

We strive to help people move closer to an understanding and experience of Jesus.
We want the way we live our lives to spark an interest in other people to know Jesus.

Include people in his church

We want visitors to feel welcome when they attend services and activities.  We want everyone to feel the love, warmth, peace, and unity of the fellowship of our congregation.

Imitate his life

We seek to become more mature disciples of Jesus Christ and ultimately the kind of people he has designed us to be.

Ignite service in his name

We are here to serve Christ in this church and in the world, using our collection of gifts and skills to benefit others.

Inspire glory for God

We share in experiencing God's power and love through the joy and power of worship when we gather together.

Pastor Charlie Little

I have been the pastor here at TPC since 1998.  A graduate of Fuller Seminary 1983, I arrived after stints as a youth pastor in Santa Maria and a solo pastor in southeastern Colorado, prepared to make this my last stop, hoping to invest long-term pastoring a congregation.  Now 20 years later, hope has become a reality.  What a gift to have known and loved so many faithful followers of Jesus.

A few of the things I love most about ministry are getting to love people into a fuller expression of their gifts by coming alongside and helping them succeed, the privilege of preaching God's Word in the vulnerability and imperfection of my own humanity, and witnessing the growth and transformation in people, and especially so when grace and power of God are paired with the love and generosity of the people of God.

Some of my faves are Mexican food, Golden Retrievers, sitting in front of a glowing fire in the fireplace, the Dodgers, Blue Bloods, playing basketball (though now only in my imagination), hot chocolate from scratch with a mound of whipped cream, and reading a good book in bed before falling asleep.  Guilty pleasures include butter, donuts, and taking naps in the middle of the day.  Married to Laura for 37 years, we have two children both living in San Diego.

Dave Johnson

After about 10 years of working in youth ministry with camps such as Hume Lake, Forest Home and Sugar Pine, in the Fall of 2018 the Lord opened the door for me to begin serving as the Director of Student Ministries here at Templeton Presbyterian Church.

My wife Cady, is a graduate of Cal Poly SLO and since married, we have always had a deep desire to serve the local church on the central coast, especially here in North County.

Along with serving the youth of TPC in both Middle School and High School Ministries, I am currently serving as an Assistant High School Football Coach at Templeton High School. I truly believe our ministry is not just about teaching our students ABOUT our faith, but LIVING out our faith with our students.

I am currently studying Religion with an emphasis on Christian Leadership and Management at Liberty University. My wife Cady, daughter Harper, dog Fenway and I live right here in Downtown Templeton.

Kellie Wenzel

Kellie loves music and worship! Music brings joy to people’s life and worship brings purpose.

At age 11, when God drew Kellie to Himself and she surrendered her life over to Him, she took the gift that God gave her, of voice, and started singing for Him and trying to motivating His people into His presence through worship ever since.

She has been leading worship for over 30 years starting in High school and now where she is currently the worship leader for the past 6 years at Templeton Presbyterian Church in Templeton, CA.

She has traveled extensively all over the world singing at different, large to small, events doing conferences to empower women.

She has a CD out of songs she has written, but in all reality, Kellie doesn't sing to perform, she sings to motivate people, to draw people's hearts closer to God. To know, that through music, through the words of the songs, it can create a deeper understand, and surrendering to the ALL Powerful God, who wants to have an intimate fellowship/relationship with each and everyone of us. Music is a powerful tool to grab our hearts attention, and so her focus has always been worship.

John Laird

John is blessed to have been raised in a Christian home and has been actively involved in church since birth, which is quite a long time at this point. In addition to working for 20+ years as a professional studio musician in Los Angeles, John has held staff positions as accompanist and music director in several churches over the years in both traditional and contemporary settings. He has also experienced the joy of sharing the message of Christ throughout the world with various music ministries. He is passionate about worship through music in all its many forms and is delighted to bring his years of training and experience to the choir at TPC.
